What the shoreline park offers
Oyster Bay combines bay views and open parkland with habitat for a range of wildlife. The East Bay Regional Park District describes the shoreline setting as home to birds including marsh hawks, black-shouldered kites, red-tailed hawks and shorebirds.
Walking, picnicking and dog-walking are among the park’s activities. The park also has seven group picnic areas, which are non-reservable. A quarter-acre garden contains 300 plants that flower from fall through winter, providing nectar for overwintering monarch butterflies.
Beyond the Rising Wave sculpture, an 18-hole disc golf course is free to play. Toilets are near the picnic area and the new lawn area; check current park information before relying on facilities.

Trails, open space and bay views
The park’s main perimeter route is a flat, paved 2-mile loop with bay views. It runs from the Neptune entrance to the Bill Lockyer Bridge, which is also a walk-in entrance.

Interior trails lead to a viewpoint topped by Roger Berry’s sculpture, “Rising Wave.” The park loop is paved, and the shoreline route is a paved 1.5 miles, though some perimeter sections continue on compacted dirt and gravel.
Inland trails can include steeper slopes; the perimeter has an initial uphill stretch before becoming level, with gentle slopes on its dirt-and-gravel section.
There is designated accessible parking and an accessible vault toilet near the first trail junction uphill toward the picnic area. The toilet has no sink. Accessible picnic tables are along the inland trail toward the sculpture, though some tables near the restroom are very high. Check the park’s accessibility information for details.
How do you get to Oyster Bay Regional Shoreline?

Drivers can reach the park from I-880 by taking the Marina Boulevard exit and heading west. Turn right onto Neptune Drive and continue to the parking area at the end of the road. The Oak Airport transportation guide covers airport-area transport planning.
Parking is free. For public transit, the District directs visitors to its transit information or to call 511 to confirm current service. The Bill Lockyer Bridge provides a walk-in entrance, so you can also approach the park on foot from that access point.
If you’re planning other time by the water, Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach has its own visitor guide.

Facilities, access and conditions to check
Park rules shape how you can use the trails and open areas. Bicycles are allowed on designated trails only, and riders must yield to pedestrians. California law requires bicyclists under 18 to wear helmets.
Dogs must stay under voice control at all times and be leashed in parking lots, near trail or park entrances, in picnic and developed areas, where grazing animals are present, and wherever signs require it. The park prohibits feeding or approaching wildlife, as well as wading or swimming in undesignated areas, smoking or vaping, skateboarding and drones.
Before you go, check the park’s official site for current hours, alerts and closures. Hours are 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., unless otherwise posted or permitted.
